Product Description
Connect Your Allen-Bradley PLCs To Your Building Automation System
Many building systems use Programmable Controllers to implement building control logic. Until now, it has been difficult and expensive to exchange data between Allen-Bradley PLCs and BACnet/IP enabled Building Automation Systems (BAS). For some Allen-Bradley PLCs there were no devices that would connect it to a BAS.
That’s Where the 460ETCBS Comes in
The 460ETCBS changes all that and gives you an amazing tool to quickly and easily integrate your BACnet/IP enabled BAS with any Allen-Bradley PLC. Even the legacy PLC5Es and SLC 5/05s. With this small, din rail module you can now use BACnet/IP Analog and Binary Properties to access the registers or tags in your Allen-Bradley PLC.
How Does the Data Move In and Out of the PLC?
To transfer data between a BACnet/IP Controller and up to five Allen-Bradley PLCs, the PLCs must allocate memory space to receive data and memory space to transmit data. In new PLCs, the memory space can consist of an individual tag, a tag array or a User Defined Tag (UDT) structure. In legacy PLCs, the memory space consists of two sets of register blocks.
The 460ETCBS store data received from a BACnet/IP controller in the area designated to receive data. It gets data to transmit to a BACnet/IP controller from the area designated to transmit data. BACnet/IP controllers exchange objects with end devices like the 460ETCBS. The 460ETSBS supports the Analog Input, Analog Output and Binary Input and Binary Output objects. It maps these objects into the PLC memory areas designated to send and receive BACnet/IP data.
It’s really that simple. Need to modify your data as it passes from one protocol to the other? No problem. Each data mapping you apply can be modified with up to 3 mathematic functions. Add 4 to a value, multiply by 4 and divide by 10 with ease.
Why Use Real Time Automation as a Gateway Supplier?
The 460ETCBS provides an option to access a BACnet/IP system with an Allen-Bradley PLC without an expensive in-rack solution. While there are certainly a number of other companies offering stand alone gateways, there is no one who provides the level of support and service that you receive from RTA.
When you call, a live person answers the phone. When you talk with sales, you will get honest answers and recommendations even if that means recommending someone else’s solution. When you get support, it is from an engineer who had a hand in the product’s development, and support doesn’t require a ticket or 24 hour wait. We are unashamed of the fact that we are a smaller company because that means you mean a lot more to us.
